Boat on Blue painting

Boat on Blue

Boat on Blue.  Oil painting on 40 x 30 inch canvas, 2015.  A wooden lapstrake sailboat is reflected in the calm waters of the infinite expanses of the blue sea and skies in this waterscape. The painting is executed in a vertical portrait style separated into two primary planes by the mid-canvas horizon.  The boat’s mast extends vertically from the boat in the lower plane upward and off the top of the canvas connecting both planes of the scene.  The subject is painted in a heavy impasto style.  The painting is also shown on my website’s Nature Gallery.  Posters and art prints are available here. Boat on Blue will be featured at Artel Gallery, Pensacola, FL,  March 13th through April 17th, 2015.

Mother & Daughter Walking in the Rain charcoal drawing

Mother and Daughter Walking in the Rain
Mother and Daughter Walking in the Rain.  Charcoal drawing on 24 x 18 inch art paper.  The umbrella was painted with oil color.  This seasonal genre piece was drawn with considerable simplicity keeping the subjects in the middle of the scene; the red umbrellas create the focal point.  The subjects are holding hands while walking down the pathway with their umbrellas open and reflected on the walkway behind them.  Posters and giclee prints are available here.  Also can be found in the Living and Breathing page of my website.

Red Umbrella charcoal drawing

Red Umbrella
Red Umbrella.  Charcoal drawing on 24 x 18 inch art paper.  Created for an art collector who had seen a previous charcoal drawing with an umbrella I did years ago.  This piece is similar, but rather than a male subject, I used a female model.  This piece inspired the charcoal drawing above.
